Why take so long to let me know you don’t want to publish my writing or my book? I wish writers didn’t have to wait 4-6 months for a response especially since by month 4 I already know the answer is no. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to watch porn.
Just tell me you hate it

Rejections and more words
8 11 2013It seems my acceptance streak has officially come to an end. Got a few rejections today, but I wasn’t really surprised by them, so it doesn’t hurt too much. On the bright side, I managed to get a whole bunch of writing done (more than a thousand words) for my Children’s Writing class. As for my NaNoWriMo novel — I’m putting that on the backburner for now, since I don’t feel like I’m ready to really tackle writing a story I don’t know enough about yet. Also I have to write a 60 page script in two weeks so… yeah.

Good news, everyone!
9 10 2013Got another email yesterday — another creative non-fiction piece of mine has been selected for publication! Huzzah! I stared at the email for a few seconds because I just didn’t know how to process the news. I’ve been getting so many rejections this year that it almost seemed like a mistake. Two acceptances in a row! What is this???
It’s almost like I could actually be a writer. Imagine that.

Another rejection today
2 08 2013From a publication that produces gay-themed stuff too, which makes me a bit sadder than the usual rejection.
Sigh. But I gotta keep goin, right? Gotta keep going…

Places for Writers
8 02 2013I found this great website last night while posting links and resources for the blog for the Writing Centre at UBC, and it will now serve as a great motivator to get me to write and keep writing. Places for Writers is a site that features submissions to publications, anthologies, books, etc. across Canada and the US.
Check it out!
