A very uneventful unboxing

1 02 2012

Thanks to all those who somehow found my blog from my last post.  I’m not used to having strangers commenting and liking my posts.  So weird.

I managed to take some pictures of the books and some with my name in it, since I’m vain like that.  I actually thought of doing one of those pointless unboxing youtube videos that are somehow popular, and I’m sure this would’ve actually been personal and cool (unlike, say, unboxing the Mac you’ve always wanted because… it’s shiny and white and ridculously expensive).  But no.  I figured I wouldn’t make it very exciting.  Instead, I’d say, with a monotone, the following:

Me: Oh look.  What ever could this be?  A box full of books with a story that I’ve written?  Yaaaaaaaaay.  Oh, I mean, YAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY!

Or something.

Picture time!

More books!

I don’t have enough time to post pictures, but my order of the Chicken Soup for the Soul books arrived today, and I freaked out yet again at seeing my name in book!  Yaaaaaaaay!

My mother, however, did not seem very impressed.  Then again, she don’t think she appreciates how cool and awesome it is to get published.

Good news!

An email I received yesterday:

Dear Aaron

Your story “Astronaut: Calling Out After Coming Out  ” has made it to the final selection round for Chicken Soup for the Soul: Tough Times for Teenagers. Only a small percent of the submitted stories have made it this far. The vast majority of stories in this “last round” will appear in the book, but we do not make the final decisions until about a month before the publication date.

Yaaaaay!  I was super stoked about writing and submitting this story although now, I’m contemplating whether or not I should sell my story to them or to send it somewhere else.  I think I need some advice.
