Nothing to Envy — Ordinary Lives in North Korea

10 05 2014

I know it might be a little inappropriate to pose with my ass next to such a harrowing book, but I didn’t know what else to do. Also, I realized I haven’t taken many pictures of my butt, and I was feeling quite uninspired, so I chose to pose again with Rich’s kind gift. Anyway, this book is among the best written non-fiction books I’ve ever read. It was first suggested to me by David Sedaris when he came to Vancouver last year because he finds fucked-up lives really interesting to read.

And man, was/is it fucked up in North Korea.

But I really do recommend this book to everyone. The writing is fantastic, well-researched, utterly engaging, maddening, disturbing — but ultimately, somewhat hopeful.
