Convincing a fellow gay that language like “no Asians” is indeed racist language that has harmful and negative consequences. Yesssssssssssss!

I totally agree with this. Whilst I can understand that different people have preferences as to who they are attracted to, ruling someone out simply because of race is quite puzzling.
Thank you for that. I wrote a personal essay on racism in the gay community on things like Grindr and Craigslist and most of my gay friends didn’t actually see it as racism at all, which was mind-blowing to me. It’s a bit of a sanity confirmation to hear I’m not the only one who takes issue with this kind of language and behaviour.
You live in the UK, right? Is it as bad over there too?
I think it is in the gay world. I live in a university town, and a large amount of the students here are Asian, so I think where I live it’s not so much a thing. Would be interested in reading your article on it. I read sonething simular in a magazine not long ago.
That’s interesting that it doesn’t really seem to be an issue where you live. Maybe North Americans are just assholes. :p I’m going to be submitting my personal essay to another literary magazine so I can’t post it on my blog but I could send it to you if you’d like — what’s your email address?
Yeah, I’d be interested in reading that. Howlingfantogs@hotmail.com
